A solar battery is a battery that stores energy from solar PV system. The system's panels absorb energy from the sun and convert it to electricity which then passes through the inverter for your home to use. A battery is an additional component that can allow you to store energy produced from panels and use the energy at a later time, such as in the evening when your panels are no longer producing energy

How battery storage works

  • The sun’s radiation is captured through photovoltaic solar cells and transformed into DC electricity, the inverter then converts it to useable AC electricity
  • Excess energy is fed into battery storage, which can be used during the night, bad weather or periods of high usage
  • If the grid goes down, the battery can continue to provide energy, in certain conditions
